The kids call me Mr. Rich. For over twenty years, I have taught math to thousands of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in New York City.
Most of the kids in my classes are behind grade level in math. Over the years, I have developed quite a few strategies to help the kids overcome their struggles with math. Many of those strategies are designed to make sure the kids "forget less."
If the kids are able to "forget less," they then will "remember more."
This is especially important during the middle school years because, during grades 6, 7, and 8, there is significant brain development taking place as the kids are growing older. It's very common for middle school kids to simply forget previously-learned material.
Because of this, constant repetition is a significant key to success when learning math. It's crucial to regularly review and revisit previously taught material to ensure that "less forgetting" takes place. The ultimate goal in middle school math is to properly develop the solid foundation in math that the kids will need during high school.
If the kids enter high school without that solid foundation in math, difficulty in both math and science during their high school years is virtually guaranteed.
That's where the monthly math worksheets can help. The monthly worksheets provide constant reviews of previously taught middle school math concepts. The concepts chosen for the worksheets each month target the prerequisite knowledge that is essential for success in math and science during high school.
I use my twenty years of experience to personally create every single math problem on every single monthly worksheet. I make sure to scaffold the questions for maximum effectiveness and I selectively choose which concepts to include in each month's worksheet so that all the key concepts from middle school math are reviewed as often as possible.
Let's make sure as many kids as possible "forget less" as they move through middle school toward high school.
Let's start by making sure the kids are practicing previously-learned math on a regular basis.
Let's make sure the kids are ready for high school math and science!
